this movie is the love story of cherry and hero, two characters growing together to defy a patriarchal empire where the telling of stories is passed down through crafts like needlework, and by written word - an act forbidden to women in this realm. amidst Birdman’s cold world of intimidating power at the expense of human life, there is a revolutionary warmth carried through cherry and hero's brave and caring acts of rebellion.

the film is a beautifully rendered fable based on the graphic novel by isabella greenburg - The 100 Nights of Hero.
which, in addition to seeing this gorgeous, hilarious and thoughtful movie, i highly highly recommend having the hardcover on your bookshelf.
